The internet is currently divided into two camps: those who would give anything for another year with their “good boy,” and those who are side-eyeing the science behind the latest viral medical trend.
As per reports, a new drug could make your doggo live longer. The drug, LOY-002, developed by Loyal, is currently being tested on around 1,300 dogs across multiple veterinary clinics in the US. The internet could not be more ecstatic. The news was shared through a post by Pubity on social media platform X and has so far received over 5 million views.
Scientists have long known that dogs on restricted diets tend to live longer and develop diseases later. LOY-002 is designed to deliver similar benefits without reducing how much the dog eats, allowing it to maintain its normal appetite while ageing more slowly.
The drug is currently being tested on older dogs, and while early results suggest it could extend healthy lifespan by at least a year, the company is still cautious about making broader claims until trials are complete.
