Indian media reports veteran writer is on a ventilator after a brain blood vessel issue as doctors weigh early surgery
The condition of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s father and renowned screenwriter Salim Khan has worsened, leading to speculation that he may need brain surgery.
According to Indian media reports, a sudden increase in blood pressure has affected a blood vessel in the right side of Salim’s brain. He is currently undergoing treatment on a ventilator while a team of doctors is continuously assessing his condition and considering an early operation.
Salim was brought to the emergency ward of Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital earlier this week. As his condition progressively worsened, he was immediately shifted to the ICU. Salman was seen outside Lilavati Hospital on this occasion, but he did not engage with the media, local media reported.
A renowned figure in the Indian film industry, Salim is widely respected for his work as a writer, and alongside Javed Akhtar, created many timeless films.
His most famous films include Haathi Mere Saathi, Sholay, Zanjeer and Mr India, which to this day, are revered as classics.
It is worth noting that Salim celebrated his 90th birthday on November 24, 2025. After the news of his illness came out, fans and Bollywood personalities have been praying for his speedy recovery.
