Instead, you’ll have access to a special variety of mangoes every season. Yes, you read that right! In Meerut’s Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a farmer has successfully cultivated the famous Miyazaki variety from Japan, with promising results.
Imported from Japan
Farmer Aamirullah Khan, in conversation with Local 18, revealed that he planted Miyazaki mango plants in his orchard and the outcome was quite fruitful, with several healthy plants bearing flowers. He mentioned that these plants were capable of bearing fruit every four months, a testament to their robust quality. He emphasised that besides their exceptional taste, these mangoes are also considered beneficial for health. Currently, they can also be found in India at the Mughal Garden.
Increase in Farmer’s Income
The Miyazaki mangoes from Japan are known to be quite expensive, considered one of the priciest mangoes globally. Estimates suggest the price can range from Rs 2.5 to 3 lakh per kilogram. Looking ahead, if farmers can rapidly increase cultivation of this mango variety, it could significantly boost their income. This is due to high demand for these mangoes in foreign markets, particularly in Japan, where they are extensively grown and supplied worldwide.
