Tisa Studio’s New Collection ‘Nara’ Embodies Kyoto’s Tranquility and Indian Tradition – News18

At the recent LFW x FDCI event, homegrown menswear brand Tisa Studio unveiled their latest sustainable festive collection, aptly named Nara. Drawing inspiration from the serene city of Kyoto, Japan, the collection masterfully blends Japanese and Indian artistry, creating a unique cultural fusion.

The color palette reflects Kyoto’s tranquil natural surroundings, featuring earthy tones such as olive green, beige, muted grey, and blue. What sets this collection apart is its intricate detailing—bright orange twill tape, screen-printed Japanese floral motifs, and hand-embroidered Akizakura, the Autumn cherry blossom, along with foliage of Fall leaves, all contribute to the rich and delicate embroidery work. The garments also incorporate Shibori tie-dye techniques, adding visual intrigue, while Devanagari brass buttons lend a distinct Indian touch.

The “NARA” collection beautifully merges Japanese and Indian What inspired you to combine these two distinct cultures, and how did Kyoto influence your design approach?

During our recent trip to Japan, I noticed lots of similarities in our cultures, which made me appreciate our traditions and customs more.

In Kyoto, I experienced a deep sense of rootedness and thoughtfulness that we tried to incorporate in this collection.

The detailing in the collection, especially the hand-embroidered Akizakura and Shibori tie-dye, is How do you balance intricate traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fashion for today’s audience?

Our motto is to make Traditional Menswear more relevant to the modern Indian Men. We take inspiration from something that is traditional and classic , and make it more contemporary in our own unique way . This is how we both like to dress up as well.

The use of earthy tones like olive green, beige, and muted grey reflects the natural atmosphere of How important was it for you to capture the essence of nature in your designs, and what message do you hope this conveys?

We were absolutely mesmerized by the natural atmosphere of Kyoto and truly experienced the meaning of Zen at some of the temples completely surrounded by nature. We want our clients to experience the calmness and rootedness of the same.

Your collection includes versatile silhouettes and layering options tailored for Indian How did you approach designing pieces that are both culturally meaningful and functional for the modern man?

We have always given a lot of importance to the tailoring of our garments and its functionality to ultimately feel great once you wear them. We want our clients to feel supremely comfortable, relaxed and confident that will reflect in their character and style.
