Young artists sketch a future beyond borders | The Express Tribune

LAHORE:
School students from Pakistan and India have jointly released the 14th Pak-India Peace Calendar, sending a message of peace and harmony beyond borders through art created by children from both countries.
Launched amid rising global geopolitical tensions, the peace calendar features 12 paintings six by Pakistani students and six by Indian students reflecting shared hopes for coexistence and a peaceful future.
The central theme of this year’s calendar is “We Rise Together”.
The Pakistani contributors include Hareema Muzammil, Shahryar Fazil, Subhan, Ahmed Zubair, Sana Masdar and Laiba Babar, while the Indian students whose artwork appears in the calendar are Chirag Gupta, Gursehaj Singh, Wahida Nalband, Nayva Mehra, Rudra Nanasu Hole and Savinay Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, Aaghaz-e-Dosti Coordinator Nitin Mittoo said the initiative aims to connect young students with the values of peace so they may grow into responsible citizens. He said children’s art reflects their pure emotions and aspirations, making it a powerful medium for promoting harmony.
Dr Devika Mittal said the peace calendar serves as a reminder that positive thinking and mutual understanding are possible, adding that the hope for friendship is renewed with every page.
The calendar also includes messages from prominent personalities associated with peace, education and social harmony at the global level. These include Ram Chander Rahi, Kanwar Shekhar Vijendra, Professor AH Nayyar, and US-based academic Prof Steven Youngblood.
