Bijou Phillips finds a kidney match, receives transplant after public plea for donor
Bijou Phillips underwent kidney transplant surgery and thanked everyone who answered her very public plea for life-saving help, the actor told fans on Tuesday.

The daughter of Mamas & the Papas founder John Phillips posted a picture of herself in hospital garb and declared her procedure a success.
“The voucher program found me a perfect match! “ she wrote in an Instagram statement late Tuesday night. “So close it’s like I got the kidney from one of my parents!”
Phillips, 46, said she was particularly grateful to Dr. Jeffrey Veale, nurses and staff at UCLA Health for making the procedure as convenient and pain-free as possible.
“I feel at five days out like I did four months after my last surgery!” she wrote. “The technique he developed is brilliant and he is a lifesaver! Thank you UCLA!”
Phillips also revealed that her brother joined in the donor effort and his kidney helped save a life.
“I am beyond beyond grateful to everyone who rushed into help me, get checked to donate,” according to Phillips, the ex-wife of actor Danny Masterson.
“My wonderful brother donated in the kidney exchange! He saved a life, and the life he saved had a special person donate for them, and then a few weeks later!”
The socialite, model and half-sister of MacKenzie and Chynna Phlliips went public four months ago, saying she was ”hanging on by a thread” and urgently needed a kidney transplant.
