Bruce Springsteen pays tribute to music legend Clive Davis after his death

Bruce Springsteen is mourning the death of his close friend Clive Davis.

The 76-year-old musician expressed his grief over the death of the legendary music executive on his Instagram account.

“Over here on E Street, we mourn the death of the great record man and close friend Clive Davis, Bruce penned.

“At 22 years old, he changed my life when he signed me to Columbia Records. He treated me with the same respect and kindness as a 22-year-old nobody as he did after all my success,” added the I’m on Fire hitmaker. “A great man. All our prayers and love.”

For those unversed, Clive breathed his last on Monday, June 22, at the age of 94. The five-time Grammy winner’s death was announced by his publicist.

“Davis passed away peacefully from age-related illness at the age of 94 at his home in Manhattan on Monday, June 22, surrounded by his family and loved ones,” the statement read.

It is worth mentioning here that Clive was one of the most influential music executives in the history of rock and pop.

He shaped the careers of several artists, including Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, and many others.

“To the world, our father was the iconic music legend whose vision, instincts, and relentless pursuit of excellence shaped the soundtrack of countless lives,” Clive’s family said in a statement.

“He discovered, mentored, and championed the greatest artists in modern music history, leaving an indelible mark on culture that will endure for generations,” the statement read. “To his family, Clive was Dad and Granddaddy, the steady presence at the centre of our lives, the source of wisdom, strength, encouragement, and unconditional love.”
