Finn Wolfhard has nothing but praise for his Stranger Things co-star Joe Keery.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actor and musician opened up about the lasting influence Keery has had on his creative life, particularly when it comes to discovering new bands and sounds.

It is pertinent to mention here that Wolfhard himself spent two years performing in the indie rock band Calpurnia before forming The Aubreys in 2020.

Meanwhile, Keery was a founding member of Chicago-based psych-rock band Post Animal before departing in 2018, and has since gone on to release three solo albums under his stage name, Djo.

Reflecting on their early days on the sci fi series, Wolfhard shared just how impactful Keery was on him.

“Joe is a huge influence for me, and still is. His band’s amazing. He was one of the first people I ever knew that was actually in a band,” he said.

Before the Netflix series catapulted them to global fame, Wolfhard described Keery as a guiding presence during his formative years.

“Before Stranger Things came out, he was kind of a cool, older brother. I was 12 and he was 22?” he recalled.

“He was like fresh out of being in a really cool psych rock band in Chicago, and introduced me to a ton of music that I think really informed everything,” Wolfhard added, before concluding, “I wouldn’t be here without Joe.”
