Leonardo DiCaprio breaks silence on viral Golden Globes moment

Leonardo DiCaprio has opened up about his viral moment at the 2026 Golden Globes.

Earlier this month, the 51-year-old actor was caught on camera making animated expressions and laughing during a conversation with someone who was out of sight at the star-studded ceremony.

A clip of Leonardo was shared on the official Golden Globes TikTok page and quickly attracted widespread attention online.

Addressing the viral clip, the Titanic star told Deadline that he was speaking with “a friend.”

“It was directed to a friend, but at the end of the day, who knows if this other person that I was talking to wants me to even mention their name?” Leonardo told the outlet.

“So, as the lead character says in A Bronx Tale, I’m not a rat,” he added.

Teyana Taylor, who shares the screen with Leonardo in One Battle After Another, previously told Access Hollywood that she and the actor were discussing how her daughters, Junie and Rue, love the film, KPop Demon Hunters.

The 35-year-old actress mentioned that she didn’t know their interaction was being recorded at the time.

Teyana later clarified on The Tonight Show that after the clip went viral, she realized Leonardo was talking to someone else.

“I was like, ‘You can’t be talking to me, were you talking to me?’ Because I already told people you was talking to me. So apparently he had two KPop Demon Hunter conversations that night, so KPop Demon Hunters was just in his mouth all night,” Teyana joked to host Jimmy Fallon.

“And I’m like ‘Who else is you kekeing with like that?’ Because literally that’s how we [talk, with animated gestures],” She said of DiCaprio.

“So I had a little friendly jealousy, I was like ‘Who else are you chewing your invisible gum with?’ He didn’t even remember who he was talking to. He was like, ‘I don’t even know,'” added Teyana.
