Savannah Guthrie’s mother Nancy Guthrie has been misplaced since February 1, 2026.

According to authorities, she was abducted from her home. Many people online have made false  allegations that she has been kidnapped by an old family friend.

A fifth-grade teacher, Dominic Evans, who was wrongly linked online to the investigation surrounding Nancy Guthrie, has spoken out after internet speculation turned his life upside down.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Evans revealed that his home in Tucson, Arizona, was flooded with amateur sleuths after the FBI released surveillance images on February 10 showing a masked man outside Nancy’s home.

Evans said the online accusations spiraled quickly despite the fact that he had only met Nancy, 84, once more than a decade ago in 2011. Some users speculated about his involvement in the kidnapping of Guthrie because Evans plays in a band with Tommaso Cioni.

For those unversed, Tommaso Cioni is Nancy’s son-in-law and the brother-in-law of Today cohost Savannah Guthrie. He also suspected that someone had tried to use him as a scapegoat.

“I feel like someone’s taken my name,” Dominic said

Dominic also added that he is very much depressed by all this situation saying, “I don’t know , monetary, clickbait, to be relevant, entertainment, but there are innocent people that get hurt.”

Dominic and his wife, Andrea, explained about the awkward situation faced after internet users began comparing his facial features to the masked figure seen in the surveillance images. The couple admitted the situation became frightening when crowds gathered outside their home the day the photos were released.

Andrea revealed that she got “scared and numb” when she saw such a huge crowd outside her house.

“It was all night looking through the window, trying to not let any light out of our home.” she explained.

Moreover, days later after police and the FBI carried out a home search and traffic stop in Tucson , even more people showed up near the Evans family home. Authorities detained four people connected to a search warrant that day before later releasing them.
