Ashley Park is looking back at one of the fight scenes in Emily in Paris in which she hit Lily Collins with croissants.
During a recent chat with People, at PaleyFest LA 2026, Park shared she “will never forget” the filming of the fight scene, while she also reflected on her and Lily’s real-life and onscreen friendship.
“Oh my gosh. Well, that was actually interesting, because we always say that so much of our characters are inspired very much by our own friendship. Like, we’ve never had a fight like that,” Park said gushingly.
She continued to explain, “We’ve never had a conversation like that. We communicate very well, and we’re like, ‘Oh, I guess this is the time where our characters can kind of learn this lesson.’ ”
Park also recalled how a croissant left its imprint on Collin’s face, “I will never forget the imprint of croissant crumbs on her face. And to do that to her friend — we had to stop. I was like, ‘Are you okay?’ ”
While sharing the details behind the pastry fight, Park said, “Croissants are very light, so in order to aim it properly, you have to really chuck it hard. And so I was not aiming it correctly so well. I think the take that they use, I really chucked it at her.”
The Netflix series tells the story of Emily Cooper (played by Lily), who is an ambitious American marketing executive, navigating her life in Paris after moving from Chicago.
The fifth installment of Emily in Paris was released in December 2025 and the next season’s filming has already begun after the success of the last one.
