Kacey Musgraves reveals how latest album took her back home

Kacey Musgraves was in the middle of managing many things when she was creating new music, from music recordings, to relationships.

However, when the popular country music star visited her family in her hometown of Golden in Texas, she saw a billboard that said “Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere” that led to her latest album literally being named, Middle of Nowhere.

In her music she has incorporated sounds from her current home in Mexico, as well as her Texan roots, with Spanish guitars and bluegrass vibes.

While the title might suggest a sense of being stuck, she seems perfectly content where she is.

According to Independent, there is a song, Dry Spell, on which Musgraves laments her lack of a s*x life over with lyrics going, “It’s been a real long/ Three-hundred and thirty-five days/ And the last time/ It wasn’t good anyway.”

Musgraves explained to the outlet that her most recent relationship was, she decided, the “last round” in which she’d repeat unhealthy cycles.

This led to her being single for quite a while, “I really learned that being alone does not have to equal being lonely,” she said.

On the track Loneliest Girl, then, she cherishes being alone. In the song she claims the now she doesn’t “have to act like I like all your friends… or your momma/ I don’t have to take on your childhood trauma/ I’m happy to be the loneliest girl in the world.”

However, this does not mean that Kacey Musgraves is against having company as she duets with the man she describes as “everyone’s favourite gangster grandpa,” country legend Willie Nelson, on Uncertain, TX, and even mended a long-rumoured feud with fellow country queen Miranda Lambert on the outrageous Horses and Divorces.
