Meryl Streep gushes over Jimmy Kimmel after Donald Trump calls for his firing
Meryl Streep has nothing but praise for Jimmy Kimmel, who is “carrying the banner of freedom of the press.”
On Thursday, the 76-year-old actress sat down with Jimmy during her whirlwind promotional tour for the anticipated sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2, released on May 1.
As the audience welcomed Meryl with applause, she asked Jimmy, “How are you?” referring to his ongoing feud with Donald Trump, who recently called out for Jimmy’s firing.
“I’m holding up,” Jimmy replied to Meryl.
In response, Meryl began to gush over him, “You’re a prince. You are a Knight Templar.”
She added, “You’re carrying the banner of freedom of the press.”
Jimmy chimed in, “I’m just trying to do some jokes.”
The three-time Oscar-winning actress told him, “We all depend on you — and the world is listening. I’ve just come from around the world.”
This came after President Donald called out Jimmy for calling his wife, Melania Trump, “an expectant widow” as the president has been looking tired and frail for quite some time.
Donald Trump posted to Truth Social earlier in the day, “When is ABC Fake News Network firing seriously unfunny Jimmy Kimmel, who incompetently presides over one of the Lowest Rated shows on Television?” “People are angry. It better be soon!!!”
