Michael Jackson biopic is not coming out on the date it was supposed to.

The release date for the highly anticipated biopic, Michael, has been pushed back by six months.

Originally set for an April 18, 2025 release, Lionsgate announced on Tuesday that the film will now premiere in theatres on October 3, 2025, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The biopic stars Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson, as the iconic musician and features Colman Domingo and Nia Long portraying his parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson.

The cast also includes Miles Teller, Laura Harrier, Kat Graham, Larenz Tate, and Jessica Sula.

The film is expected to explore all phases of Jackson’s life and career, including his legal battles. It will address his 1993 settlement in response to allegations of child abuse and his 2005 trial in Santa Barbara, California, where he faced separate accusations and was ultimately acquitted.

“I think that’ll be the biggest movie we’ve ever had,” the Lionsgate president of worldwide television distribution Jim Packer said during a session at a symposium for Gabelli Media & Entertainment Symposium.

“The buzz that we’re getting every time a photo gets released is kind of crazy,” he added.
