The BJP leader has declared a net worth of Rs 85.87 lakh with no car, jewellery and zero liabilities. Here’s a look at new Bengal CM’s financial profile:

Suvendu Adhikari is set to be Bengal’s next CM.
Suvendu Adhikari Net Worth: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Suvendu Adhikari has taken oath as the first BJP Chief Minister of West Bengal, marking the party’s maiden entry into power in the state since Independence. Adhikari, who defeated Mamata Banerjee in Bhabanipur, will now head the state government after being elected as the BJP Legislature Party leader on May 8.
While his political rise has grabbed headlines, his financial disclosure in the 2026 election affidavit presents a relatively modest personal wealth profile for a leader now at the helm of a key state.
Net Worth Stands At Rs 85.87 Lakh
According to his election affidavit, Adhikari has declared a total net worth of Rs 85.87 lakh. This includes Rs 24.57 lakh in movable assets and Rs 61.30 lakh in immovable assets.
His declaration reflects a low-debt profile, with ‘NIL’ liabilities across categories, including bank loans and government dues.
Modest Movable Assets, No Car Or Jewellery
Adhikari’s movable assets are valued at Rs 24.57 lakh. Notably, he has declared just Rs 12,000 as cash in hand and does not own any car or private vehicle. He has also listed ‘NIL’ under jewellery.
A significant portion of his financial assets is held in bank deposits across multiple accounts in institutions such as PNB, SBI, Axis Bank, IDBI Bank, and cooperative banks in Contai and Nandigram. These deposits total Rs 7.34 lakh.
His investments are largely in traditional savings instruments. National Savings Certificates account for Rs 5.45 lakh, while Kisan Vikas Patra investments stand at Rs 2.60 lakh. He also holds Rs 60,523 in a postal savings account. In addition, six LIC policies together contribute Rs 7.71 lakh to his asset base. Investments in bonds and shares remain minimal at Rs 14,240.
Property Holdings Concentrated In Purba Medinipur
The bulk of Adhikari’s wealth lies in immovable assets worth Rs 61.30 lakh, primarily located in Purba Medinipur, his political stronghold.
He has declared agricultural land in Nandigram valued at Rs 9.05 lakh. Additional agricultural plots in Panchdaria, Dharmadasbar, Karkuli, and Sinachurajalpai are collectively valued at Rs 27.5 lakh.
His residential assets include flats in Tamluk and Kumarpur, along with a jointly held ancestral property in Karkuli. These properties together are valued at ₹24.75 lakh.
Income Profile And Financial Discipline
For the financial year 2024-25, Adhikari reported a total income of Rs 17.38 lakh in his Income Tax Return. His income sources include his MLA salary, MP pension, and business activities.
The absence of liabilities and a portfolio tilted towards fixed-income instruments and insurance policies suggest a conservative financial approach.
Adhikari’s financial disclosure stands in contrast to the scale of his political victory, where he emerged as a “giant slayer” by defeating Mamata Banerjee and leading the BJP to a landmark win in West Bengal.
