‘Wednesday’ designers reveal secrets behind Jenna Ortega’s ‘spooky’ costumes
Wednesday’s costumers are offering an inside glimpse into the spooky wardrobes of the entire cast.
Colleen Atwood and Mark Sutherland recently opened up to People magazine about what it’s like to prevent Jenna Ortega’s costumes from falling flat while still following the monochrome theme.
Sutherland told the outlet, “At the beginning, we have a huge fitting with Jenna. We go through as many looks as we can; we try to get a feel for the character for the season. We will have a certain number of looks that Colleen, Jenna, and I all agree on.”
In addition, they also reminisced about what it was like having Lady Gaga on set as Rosaline Rotwood, a character of her own.
Speaking of Gaga’s character in the film, Atwood explained how it completely fulfilled the concept of bringing the character to life.
He chimed in, adding, “Her character [Rosaline Rotwood] did have an origin story within the parameters of the script, which set us in the period that her costume is an homage to: the 1930s. It’s cut with a little bit of a flare at the bottom.”
For those unfamiliar, Wednesday Season 2 was initially released in separate parts: the first premiered on Netflix on Wednesday, August 6, while the second followed on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
