The third day of Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI witnessed an intersection of heritage and high fashion. In a collaboration that felt much more refreshing than a regular a runway show, Lakmē Salon X Verandah Presents INDIGENE brought a sensory-rich experience to the Jio World Convention Centre, proving that the future of luxury is deeply rooted in the past.

The showcase was a masterclass in “boho-luxe,” blending Verandah’s artisanal silhouettes with Lakmē Salon’s cutting-edge Cut & Colour Collection 2026.

The Muse And The Mastermind

Verandah, founded by ex-investment banker Anjali Patel Mehta, has carved a niche as India’s first Butterfly Mark-certified conscious luxury brand. For the Spring/Summer 2026 season, Mehta looked inward, drawing inspiration from her maternal grandmother, Susheela Iengar.

The collections, titled Ammama and Bejewelled, served as a tender tribute to childhood memories in Bangalore, capturing the scent of magnolia blossoms, the intricate geometry of rangoli, and the timeless elegance of vintage South Indian jewelry.

Stepping onto the runway in a fluid, hand-beaded kaftan crafted from sustainable Ecovero, Penty was a vision in midnight blue.

“This collection is rooted in nostalgia, inspired by my grandmother and the home she created, where music brought every morning to life, florals filled everyday spaces—even kitchen vessels—and a deep sense of warmth and belonging shaped everything around her,” shared Anjali Patel Mehta. Closing the show was actor Diana Penty, whose effortless grace mirrored the brand’s “fuss-free” philosophy. The ensemble featured a signature magnolia print (a nod to the cherished tree at Mehta’s grandmother’s home) balanced with delicate sequin work. It was a look designed to travel, transition, and transcend, feeling just as at home in Mumbai as it would in St. Tropez or Bora Bora.

Lakmé Salon’s vision of contemporary Indian beauty came alive through its Cut & Colour Collection, designed to complement, not compete with, the garments.

Lakmé Salon’s vision of contemporary Indian beauty came alive through its Cut & Colour Collection, designed to complement, not compete with, the garments. Hair was textured, dimensional, and fluid, with shades like warm browns, soft coppers, and creamy blondes enhancing natural movement and skin tones rather than masking them. As Vipul Chaturvedi, CEO – Lakmē Salon, noted: “Indigene is our ode to modern Indian beauty… created with a deep understanding of Indian hair, skin tones and lifestyle.”

The show was elevated by a live performance in collaboration with the LEAP Foundation. Renowned percussionist B. Shree Sundarkumar (KanjiraMan) and artists from the foundation provided a rhythmic heartbeat to the walk, while dancers from Rudraksha brought the stories of the soil to life.
