In a heartfelt moment that has melted hearts across the internet, Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja have took to Instagram to share the joy of parenthood by revealing the name of their newborn son, a name that carries a deeply divine and spiritual meaning.

The couple, who welcomed their second baby boy on 29th March 2026, chose a name that reflects grace, positivity, and sacred energy. This beautiful announcement comes as a lovely extension of the love story they have been building together, one rooted in partnership, respect, and shared dreams.

Sonam and Anand have named their second son, Rudralokh Kapoor Ahuja.

The actress, who has often spoken about spirituality, tradition and emotional intentionality in motherhood, previously revealed the significance behind naming her first son “Vayu”, a Sanskrit word associated with wind, life force and divine energy. In her announcement, she described the name as being inspired by sacred forces connected to strength, courage and breath itself.

In her announcement, Sonam shared that Rudralokh was born on the sacred day of Ekadashi under Vishnu’s grace, describing his arrival as “a sign, a karmic alignment, and a divine pairing” with his elder brother. She wrote, “In the spirit of the divine force that has once again transformed our lives… With love and gratitude, we welcome Rudralokh Kapoor Ahuja.”

Meaning of Sonam Kapoor’s Son’s Name

The name Rudra, from the Sanskrit root “rud” meaning “to roar,” signifies the mighty force that eradicates suffering and brings renewal. By choosing Rudralokh, the couple has given their son a name filled with aspiration — hoping he grows to be fearless, compassionate, deeply aware, and a force of strength and light.

Sonam and Anand’s approach to naming their children reflects a conscious and spiritually aware style of parenting. What made the announcement particularly meaningful was the connection Sonam drew between both her sons’ names. Her firstborn carries a name associated with Vishnu, the sustainer and preserver in Hindu philosophy. Rudra, meanwhile, symbolises power, transformation and renewal.

Together, she described them as “breath and power, preservation and transformation”, two forces strengthening one another.

Like Sonam, parents are now moving away from simply choosing names that sound fashionable. Instead, there is growing interest in names rooted in mythology, spirituality, Sanskrit and emotional symbolism. What this really means is that names are once again becoming extensions of identity and intention rather than trends.
