Global star Diljit Dosanjh may be performing at sold-out arenas across the world, but one thing has remained constant through the years – he never travels without his Gutka Sahib. In a now-viral Vogue US interview, the singer-actor opened up about the personal and spiritual items he carries in his bag, giving fans a rare glimpse into the things that keep him grounded despite global fame.
The video, shared by Vogue on July 1, showed Diljit walking viewers through his everyday essentials with his signature humour and humility. At one point, he even joked that his English “is not so great” and asked viewers to bear with him. And we did.
Among the first things Diljit showed was the Gutka Sahib, a sacred Sikh prayer book that contains daily prayers and hymns from Sikh scriptures. For many Sikhs, it is not just a religious text but a personal spiritual companion carried for guidance, discipline and peace. Diljit revealed that he has been carrying it with him for decades, in fact since 2002, no matter where he travels in the world. He had also covered it with a cloth when showing it to the camera.
Another meaningful item in his bag was a salai, the small but essential tool Sikhs use to properly maintain and tie their turbans. The tiny object may look ordinary to outsiders, but for Diljit, it represented identity, culture and daily discipline. The singer explained that wherever he goes, he carries a piece of Punjab and India with him.
Among other important items in his bag was a Rudraksh chain with spiritual crystals that had been gifted to him by a fan after two sold-out concerts. Apart from spiritual objects, Diljit’s bag also reflected his wellness habits. A very fun segment of the interview included Diljit sharing his nightly ritual involving a mix of neem and mustard oil applied to the belly button. “It is very important to nurture your belly button,” he explained, adding that people can also use coconut oil or ghee.
The interview also gave us a glimpse of his incredible fashion choices. He wore a cropped Chanel Spring/Summer 2026 jacket designed by Mathieu Blazy, pairing the luxury women’s Ready-To-Wear piece with a white tee, black pants and his signature orange turban.
