Netflix is in a dilemma over whether to move forward with Building the Band, likely Liam Payne’s last major project before his death at 31.

According to Deadline, filming for the music competition series has wrapped up after the streaming giant greenlit it in May.

In the wake of the One Direction member’s tragic death on Wednesday, October 16, Netflix is expected to approach the show’s airing cautiously.

Payne, who had a seven-year-old son named Bear with Girls Aloud member Cheryl, reportedly died after he fell from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, earlier this week.

It’s unclear when Netflix plans to release Building the Band, though most series spend three to six months in post-production.

The show involves bringing together 50 singers to compete to form a band, connecting through musical compatibility before meeting in person.

The Teardrops hitmaker served as a mentor in Building the Band series alongside Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls and Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child, with AJ McLean from Backstreet Boys hosting.

One memorable moment from the recording included audience members serenading Payne with “Happy Birthday” the day before the final recording as he tuned into 31st birthday celebrations, recalled a fan.
