Madonna and her eldest daughter, Lordes ‘Lola’ Leon, are mending their relationship through music.

The 67-year-old singer and performer joined forces with her daughter in her latest track The Test, which is included in Madonna’s 15th studio album, Confession II.

In the song, the mother-daughter duo did not shy away from openly addressing their previously strained relationship and how their bond had been affected because of being public figures.

Madonna sings, “Little star / I tried to put you on a pedestal / You didn’t ask for all the flashing lights / I didn’t think of how it could disturb.

“Or how it hurt / I wish I knew / The pain I’ve caused / My butterfly / Was always being watched.”

In the second verse, Lola sings about her mom, “A hand tenderly reaching to me / You are my reason to be / Or what I want, or look like / What I wear, all the clothes on my back.

“And what I attract / I trace the line of what you have sewn / Keep my own design / Make it a landscape / Make it alive.”

In the recurring part of the song, Madonna and Lola sing about their bond being put to “the test” and Lola getting freedom from the shadow of her mother’s fame.

This came after Madonna revealed in a June interview with Interview Magazine that Lola herself reached out to her for a songwriting collaboration and the team-up soon turned into a meaningful move for them.

Madonna said at the time, “The song I wrote with my daughter, Lola. She approached me about writing a song together as a way to heal our relationship.

”It was a really important moment, and it solidified the idea that now is the time to make this record.”

It is pertinent to mention that Madonna welcomed Lola with her ex fitness beau, Carlos Leon.
