Matt Damon has opened up about the emotional reality of watching his children grow up.
In an interview with People Magazine, The Odyssey actor shared that his longtime friend Ben Affleck is also going through the very same thing.
Damon revealed that he and Affleck often find themselves reflecting on how quickly their children are becoming adults as they enter what he calls a “new phase of life.”
He said, “We’re at very similar stages with the kids, and it’s definitely a new phase of life.”
“It doesn’t take much to get us emotional at this point,” he added.
Damon and Ben Affleck have been longtime friends, they started the production company Artists Equity together in 2022.
Furthermore, Matt Damon also talked about how it feels like that all of his girls will soon be out of the house. The dad-of-four-daughters said, “I feel like we are facing it and embracing the fact that it’s happening.”
“We’ve been talking a lot about presence and about really trying to be in the moment, and because you can’t slow time down, the only way to really do it is to really be there and be in it,” he added.
On the professional front, Matt Damon is starring as Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which released on July 17, 2026.
