Shailene Woodley takes home first Emmy for ‘Paradise’: ‘I feel so lucky’
Shailene Woodley has won her first career Emmy.
The 34-year-old actress was honored with the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series trophy at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which took place on Sunday, September 6.
Shailene won the trophy for her performance in Hulu’s Paradise. In her award-acceptance speech, the American actress dedicated her win to her mother.
“Mom, this is so cool,” she said, according to Deadline. “I just feel so lucky to do what we do and to be a part of the circus with all of you amazing traveling storytelling clowns.”
Shailene won the award in this category by beating out five strong contenders, including Miriam Shor, Merritt Wever, Brittany Allen, Tal Anderson, and Tina Ivlev.
She recently gave an interview to People magazine in which she claimed that she’s unlike her character in Paradise.
“Annie and I are actually very different, which was fun to play somebody that was very different than who I am,” she said.
“I think the one point of relation is we’re both quite resilient, but the way that we practice that resiliency is different,” added Shailene. I’m an emotional roller coaster sometimes and Annie is quite linear, I think, in her approach and practical.”
