At the Cannes Film Festival, the red carpet may last a few minutes meanwhile the hotel stay at the French Riviera is every bit a part of the spectacle itself. This year, Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt gave fans a rare glimpse into the glamorous world behind Cannes celebrity life after sharing dreamy snapshots from her stay at the legendary Hotel Martinez.

Located along the iconic Boulevard de la Croisette, the hotel has long been considered Cannes royalty’s unofficial headquarters during the film festival season. Opened in 1929 and now part of Hyatt’s luxury Unbound Collection, the property blends old Hollywood glamour with Riviera excess.

Alia Bhatt’s sea-view suite has captured attention, with videos shared by her stylist Rhea Kapoor offering a virtual tour. The highlight is the private balcony featuring an ornate wrought-iron railing, delivering breathtaking 180-degree panoramic views of the Bay of Cannes, the turquoise Mediterranean Sea, and luxury yachts dotting the horizon.

White-framed French doors open to let in the sea breeze, while the interiors showcase a refined palette of ivory and gold, luxurious marble bathrooms, and spacious lounging areas perfect for pre-red-carpet moments.

How Much Does It Cost?

During the peak of the festival, the Prestige King Suite with sea view commands a staggering ₹9,18,849 (approximately $10,800) or more per night, plus taxes and fees. Standard rooms start from around ₹2,80,137. For those seeking ultimate indulgence, the hotel offers expansive 13,455-square-foot sea-view penthouses on the seventh floor among the largest in Europe.

But this is not simply a hotel room. It is essentially a front-row seat to one of the world’s most photographed events.

Beyond the Suite: Hotel Martinez Experience

Guests enjoy far more than just stunning rooms. The hotel houses the Michelin-starred restaurant La Palme d’Or, known for its cinematic-themed dining, and the relaxed Le Sud, an outdoor garden restaurant inspired by 1930s yachting culture. Additional highlights include the L’Oasis du Martinez spa and fitness centre, plus a private beach club for exclusive relaxation away from the crowds.

The steel blue spaghetti strap gown featured an elongated bodice with delicate Chantilly lace peeking from the neckline. The ensemble features layered silk satin, honeycomb lace, and intricate Chantilly lace accents, beautifully complemented by a dreamy voluminous skirt and the label’s signature lace collar adorned with delicate scalloped borders. For decades, the hotel has hosted some of the biggest names in global cinema including Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Halle Berry, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. During the festival, its lobby reportedly transforms into a surreal mix of paparazzi zone, fashion runway and diplomatic networking space.
