Pandit Hitendra Kumar Sharma, a respected astrologer and vastu consultant, told News 18 Hindi about which Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha idols to purchase when doing the puja. According to the astrologer, while purchasing the idol, devotees should keep in mind that the idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha should not be connected or attached. The devotees should buy separate idols. Also, the astrologer said that the Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha’s idols should be in a sitting position because the idols are not worshipped in a standing posture.
While buying the statues of Lord Ganesha with Goddess Lakshmi, people should keep in mind that Ganesha’s trunk should be on the left side. Besides this, they should also place a modak or laddu in one of Ganesha’s hands. Not only this, the astrologer said Ganpati Bappa’s statue should also include a mouse – Mooshak – which is considered to be Lord Ganesha’s vaahan or vehicle. Meanwhile, Goddess Lakshmi should be positioned on the Lotus flower. One of her hands should be positioned in a worshipping posture while the other should be made holding a lotus flower.
The idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh should always be made of clay because it is believed to be lucky for the devotees. However, they should keep in mind that the idols should not be broken from anywhere because they can propagate negative vibes in the house. Also, the statues should never be bought in black or white colour.
The direction of worshipping Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh should also be kept in mind. Astrologer and Vastu expert Rakesh Chaturvedi from Pratap Vihar Ghaziabad says that direction plays an important role in the Diwali puja. As per the Vastu Shastra, it is best to worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha in the north or east direction. All the wishes of the devotees doing this are fulfilled and Goddess Lakshmi is pleased. There will be no shortage of wealth in the house.
