Actor credits humour, faith, self-reliance for helping her navigate life’s difficult moments

Actor Hina Dilpazeer shared that being a single mother and divorcee was simply a part of her life’s journey, emphasising that there is no single path everyone is meant to follow.

The Bulbulay star sat down for an interview, revealing, “I was 24 when I got divorced. I was all on my own. I never thought of it as though a bomb had fallen on me and I couldn’t go through life anymore. Your life is planned by Allah, and people should understand that the lives He has written for us are destined to come with challenges.”

She stressed that blessings arrive in their own time, encouraging women to make peace with themselves while wishing well for others. “Whatever it is that you are going through, it has been planned that way. We should instead pray for others because that also brings us inner peace and blessings, leading to a good life. I feel good when everyone around me is happy,” the actor said.

Saying that people take different paths in life, Hina stressed that no one is expected to follow the same pattern. “It’s not mandatory that everyone goes through life in the same way,” she said, adding, “It’s a blessing if your family stays together for your children and if Allah has given you a good soulmate. But if that does not happen for you, then Allah wants something else from you, and that is fine.”

Stating that the end of a relationship did not necessarily mean one person was at fault, Hina shared that perhaps that meant the two people were simply incompatible. “I think people should look at what they are going through and make better decisions to live a stable, tension-free life. Don’t waste your life for the sake of another person. I am not saying anyone is bad here. Sometimes, two people just don’t work together. May Allah bless them both. Life is not easy, but if it is easy for you, that is a blessing,” she said.

Further, the actor credited her strength and unwavering faith to her parents. “My mom and dad taught me a lot about faith while I was growing up, and that helped me. I learned what it takes to succeed in life. The credit goes to them,” Hina said.

Highlighting the importance of self-love, she shared her belief that self-pity served no purpose. “You should not pity yourself. If something happens, go through it with dignity. If you have yourself, everything is in your hands. You can do so much,” the actor said, noting, “It’s not just about marriage. If you are falling or failing anywhere in life, don’t lose yourself. God doesn’t help those who do not help themselves.”

Regarding parenting, Hina stated that children learn by observing those around them. “Kids learn by watching. I haven’t had to tell my son many things, but I smile when I see him handling things on his own. Just make sure you raise your children well. Teach them five or six important things about life and how to live it. If you don’t, their values will be different,” she noted.

Sharing that humour had been one of her greatest coping mechanisms during difficult periods in her life, the actor stated, “I always laugh at myself.” She added, “Whatever tough times I’ve gone through, I’ve laughed at myself. Along with therapy, it is important to laugh. Laughter can change your mood. It’s fun to laugh at your own crazy thoughts and at yourself for being random.”

Reflecting on her transition into acting after beginning her career in radio, Hina shared her love for both theatre and radio. She also noted that although she grew up in Dubai, she always held a deep appreciation for Pakistani television. “It was something that came into my life, and I happily accepted it and gave it my 100%. Allah does not give you talent without also giving you a place to nurture and grow it,” she said.

On the career front, Hina is currently starring in the comedy programme Mithu Aur Aappa alongside Saba Hameed and Minal Khan. She is best known for playing Momo in Bulbulay and for her performance in Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewah, where she portrayed more than 40 different characters.
